Remembering the Vanished Jewish World

Dame Vivien Duffield and the Clore Israel Foundation recently announced the endowment of “I Still See Their Eyes: The Vanished Jewish World” —the introductory gallery of Yad Vashem’s new Holocaust History Museum.  The section will tell the story of the culturally rich and multi-faceted community of European Jewry between the two world wars.

Philanthropy runs deep in Dame Vivien’s family. Her father, Sir Charles Clore z”l, was renowned for his charitable work, and Dame Vivien has continued his legacy through the patronage of arts, museums and educational initiatives in the UK and in Israel.  She is an honorary fellow of the City of Jerusalem, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Weizmann Institute and is also involved in the restoration and ongoing support of the Migdal David Museum—the Museum of the History of Jerusalem—one of the Clore Foundation’s flagship projects.

Yad Vashem is profoundly grateful to Dame Vivien Duffield and the Clore Israel Foundation for their efforts in helping preserve the memory of Jewish life before the Shoah, which will no doubt captivate and inform visitors for generations to come.
