In the Warsaw Ghetto, about 50 clandestine newspapers were published between the years 1940-1942. 28 were in Yiddish, 19 in Polish and three in Yiddish and Hebrew or Polish and Hebrew. To help spread the information they contained, couriers, at great personal risk, helped distribute them to ghettos throughout Poland. The newspapers represented a wide spectrum of political opinions and points of view.
“Gazeta Żydowska” - the official newspaper on Jewish affairs published by the occupying authority in the Generalgouvernement during the years 1940-1942.
