Dror Freiheit
A Socialist Zionist youth movement, close to
the “Poalei Zion” party, established in 1938 unifying Hechalutz Hazair
and Freiheit.
Dror was based on national social classes
and working youth. It stood for the teachings of Borochov: faith in the
social and national revolution of the Jewish people, through which a
socialist community would be realized in Eretz Yisrael. Graduates
of Dror were organized in training kibbutzim, including the large “Dov
Borochov” training kibbutz in Lodz.
In Israel, the Hanoar Haoved (the
“Working Youth”) and Machanot Olim (“Immigrant camps”) movements
are close in nature to Dror; abroad it is represented by Habonim Dror. |
