Agudat
Yisrael
Religious non-Zionist movement, under the
patronage of the “Agudat Yisrael” party, established in Poland in 1912.
The movement was split into two youth groups: “Agudat Yisrael Youth” for
young men, and “Daughters of Agudat Yisrael” for young women.
The movement was anti-Zionist, believing
that all the while the Messiah had not arrived, it was incumbent upon
the Jewish people to wait in exile and not to “revolt against the
Diaspora.”
An emphasis was placed on
orthodox religious education and a general wisdom, born of
experience, to fight in every way possible assimilation and refutation
of the Torah. |
