Article 6 of the
Constitution of the International Military Court, before which the
Nuremberg Trials were brought, authorized it to try the defendants
on three crimes: crimes against peace, war crimes, and crimes
against humanity. These war crimes included violation of laws of
war, murder, cruel acts, deportation, abuse of civilian population
and other crimes that fell under the definition of genocide. |
